The Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) has announced plans to contest eight seats in the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections as part of its alliance with the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), including six reserved and two general constituencies, according to The Hindu. However, the party will break ranks and run independently in the 2026 Puducherry Assembly elections, fielding candidates in three constituencies, defying DMK’s allocation of just one seat to VCK.

This decision to contest independently in Puducherry follows rising tensions within the alliance, with VCK leader Thol.
