News intelligence, not noise

NewsRank uses a multi-stage AI pipeline to monitor 270+ professional news sources, detect breaking stories as they emerge, cluster related coverage from multiple outlets, and surface what actually matters — ranked by source diversity and editorial importance, not clicks or engagement.

What makes NewsRank different

🔍

Stories, not articles

When 40 outlets cover the same event, you don't need 40 headlines. Our clustering engine groups related articles into a single story, showing you the full picture from every angle — with source counts, entity tags, and AI summaries.

📊

Ranked by signals, not clicks

Our ranking algorithm scores stories based on source diversity, reporting velocity, source reputation, and entity significance. No engagement metrics, no ad revenue influence, no filter bubbles. Important stories rise to the top because multiple quality sources are covering them.

🧬

Entity intelligence

We identify and track 150,000+ named entities — people, organizations, and locations — across every article. Follow any entity to get notified when they appear in the news. See relationship graphs, coverage timelines, and cross-story connections.

📖

Sagas — stories over time

Major news events unfold over weeks and months. Our saga engine automatically links related stories into long-running narratives — so you can follow "the Iran conflict" or "the Supreme Court term" as a single developing thread, not disconnected daily fragments.

How the AI pipeline works

1

Ingest

We monitor RSS feeds from 270+ professional news sources every 10-30 seconds. New articles are discovered within minutes of publication.

2

Extract

Full article content is extracted using readability algorithms and browser-based fallbacks for sites with bot protection. No paywalled content is reproduced.

3

Analyze

Named Entity Recognition identifies people, organizations, and locations in every article. Semantic embeddings are generated for clustering and search.

4

Cluster

Related articles are grouped into stories using vector similarity and headline embedding comparisons. One event = one story, regardless of how many outlets cover it.

5

Enrich

Each story gets an AI-generated headline, multi-perspective summary, category classification, and editorial importance score from our ranking algorithm.

6

Track

Stories are monitored for new developments. Breaking updates trigger re-enrichment, push notifications, and saga linkage for long-running narratives.

What we believe

News should be ranked by importance, not engagement. Click-optimized feeds create filter bubbles and amplify outrage. We rank stories by how many quality sources are covering them and how significant the entities involved are — a fundamentally different signal.

You should see the whole picture. When a story matters, you shouldn't have to open 12 tabs to understand it. Our multi-source clustering shows you coverage from across the political and geographic spectrum in one place.

AI should augment journalism, not replace it. We don't write news — we help you find and understand it. Every AI summary links back to the original reporting. We exist to drive traffic to journalists, not away from them.

Transparency matters. Our editorial policy, source list, and ranking methodology are public. We don't accept payment for story placement.
