Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang began a four-day visit to South Korea on Friday to enhance collaborations in artificial intelligence, robotics, and gaming, according to Yonhap News Agency. The trip highlights Nvidia's commitment to deepening its footprint in Korea’s burgeoning technology sector and expanding partnerships with local firms.
During his visit, Huang participated in a dinner featuring traditional Korean dishes such as samgyeopsal and somaek—a combination of grilled pork belly and beer—where he met with prominent Korean business leaders, reports the Korea Times. This gathering also included soju and a toast held in Hongdae, a popular Seoul district, signaling the informal yet strategic nature of the discussions, according to the Korea Herald.
Yonhap describes Huang’s visit as part of Nvidia’s broader strategy to integrate its AI technologies within Korea’s ecosystem, particularly focusing on robotics and gaming innovations. The event served as a platform for exchanging ideas on how Nvidia’s cutting-edge GPU and AI solutions can aid the growth of Korea’s tech startups and established companies alike.
Arriving on June 16th, Huang is expected to hold multiple meetings with CEOs and tech executives over the four days, aimed at forging new partnerships and potentially announcing joint ventures, as noted by the Korea Times. Nvidia's expanding involvement in Korea reflects the country's increasing role as a global technology hub.
Looking ahead, observers will closely watch for any formal agreements or product launches resulting from the visit, especially in the AI and gaming sectors where Nvidia seeks to leverage Korean technological strengths. The outcomes could influence the direction of AI development and innovation collaboration between global and Korean firms in the coming years.
