Delsea Regional High School extended its record streak by winning a fifth consecutive Group 3 state wrestling title, defeating Brick Memorial at Jersey Mike’s Arena on Rutgers University’s campus, according to Yahoo Sports. The Crusaders, led by coach Kurt DeWoody and key grapplers, showcased a strong team effort to secure their continued dominance in the division.
In other groups, new champions emerged as Mount Olive captured the Group 4 state championship by defeating Toms River East 47-22, marking the program’s first state title since 2022. Southern Regional High School also won its fourth straight Group 5 state title with a decisive 56-15 victory over Old Bridge, highlighted by several pins and dominant performances from wrestlers including Cade Collins and Anthony Mason.
Delbarton clinched the Non-Public A state title after a dramatic comeback, overcoming Christian Brothers Academy 34-20. Notably, the team featured a surprise start by a backup wrestler and a returning Michigan commit competing in borrowed gear, securing their fourth state crown. Delbarton had also advanced to the final after defeating Bergen Catholic earlier in the tournament.
Jackson Township claimed New Jersey’s first-ever girls wrestling state championship with a 47-15 victory over Morris Hills, finishing a perfect season highlighted by six falls. This milestone event took place alongside the boys’ championships at Rutgers, underscoring the growth of girls wrestling in the state.
With multiple groups crowning champions and Rutgers hosting the high-profile state finals, the New Jersey wrestling season is demonstrating increased depth and competitiveness. The upcoming 2026 NJ High School Wrestling Championships are also scheduled for Rutgers, indicating strong continued support for the sport’s growth in the region.
