Nara Organics has expanded its nationwide recall of all infant formula products after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) linked the formula to botulism cases in three infants across multiple states, according to NBC News Health. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and CDC are investigating a multistate outbreak after these rare but serious infections emerged in recent weeks.
This is the second time in seven months that a Nara Organics product has been connected to infant botulism, with Truthout reporting that the expanded recall covers all lots of the company’s infant formula distributed nationwide. Authorities have urged consumers to immediately stop using and return any Nara formula products to minimize the risk to infants.
