Thai Police Arrest Two Chinese Nationals for Nakhon Ratchasima Gold Robbery

Thai police arrested two Chinese nationals, Zou Qintao and Song Haolong, on April 27 in Bangkok for robbing a gold shop in Nakhon Ratchasima, northeastern Thailand, according to the Bangkok Post and Khaosod English. The suspects allegedly stole gold rings valued between 300,000 and 380,000 baht before fleeing the scene in a rented or stolen vehicle.

Authorities tracked down the suspects using forensic methods, including cigarette butts left at the robbery scene in Dan Kwian, Nakhon Ratchasima, as detailed by The Thaiger. The swift investigation led to their capture within eight hours of the crime in the Prawet district of Bangkok.

The suspects confessed to committing the robbery after running out of money during their travels, with Khaosod English and The Thaiger reporting that the men claimed to have spent extensively on Thai girlfriends before resorting to the crime. The confessions suggest the robbery was premeditated to fund the continuation of their trip.

All stolen items have been recovered, and police are reviewing security protocols at gold shops to prevent similar incidents, according to Khaosod English. The case highlights concerns about tourist conduct and regional retail security in Thailand.
