Tether Launches tether.wallet, a Self-Custodial Wallet Supporting USDT and Bitcoin

Tether has launched tether.wallet, a self-custodial cryptocurrency wallet that supports USDT, Bitcoin, and tokenized gold, according to multiple sources including Cointelegraph and Zero Hedge. This wallet offers cloud-based key backup and emphasizes user control, allowing local transaction signing and easy payment through human-readable identifiers.

CoinDesk and Bitcoin Magazine report that alongside this wallet launch, Tether transferred 951 Bitcoin valued at $70.5 million into its reserve wallet, bringing total Bitcoin holdings to over 97,000 BTC, or approximately $7.1 billion. This step aligns with Tether’s policy to reinvest up to 15% of its profits into Bitcoin, positioning it among the largest private Bitcoin holders.
