Researchers detected benzene, a carcinogen, in all 72 domestic gas samples from the UK, Italy, and the Netherlands, with 1 in 10 homes showing dangerous leak levels. These benzene leaks from gas hobs and ovens increase residents' exposure to toxic chemicals, raising public health concerns. Moving forward, this evidence calls for regulatory review of household gas safety standards and potential measures to reduce benzene exposure indoors.
