Red Bull's F1 Marina Showrun in San Francisco Ends in Chaos and Fire

Red Bull Racing's Formula 1 showcase on San Francisco's Marina Boulevard attracted an estimated 40,000 spectators eager to see high-performance vehicles and stunt demonstrations, according to Yahoo Sports. The event featured a lineup including reserve driver Yuki Tsunoda performing donuts in the Red Bull RB7 and a unique Ford Racing stunt with a Dakar-spec Raptor T1+ leaping over the idle F1 car.

During Tsunoda's demonstration, the RB7 unexpectedly caught fire on the street. The Japanese driver exited the vehicle safely, and firefighters quickly extinguished the flames, as Yahoo Sports reported. The incident did not halt the event, which continued with additional performances from drivers Mitch Guthrie Jr., Scott Speed, and Aaron Colton.

The showrun was organized under a Red Bull–Ford partnership and sought to bring Formula 1 closer to Bay Area fans, offering attendees access to high-end performance cars and interaction with drivers. Spectators expressed enthusiasm about experiencing motorsport events within their region, highlighting growing local interest in F1 ahead of the 2026 season.

Despite the large crowd, some observers noted challenges related to crowd management, visibility, and safety during the event, with concerns raised over risky stunts and congested viewing areas.
