Mexican Navy Confirms Aid Sailboats 'Friendship' and 'Tigermoth' Reached Cuba Safely

Two Mexican sailboats carrying humanitarian aid, the "Friendship" and "Tigermoth," have arrived safely in Havana, Cuba, after being missing at sea for several days, according to the Mexican Navy (SEMAR) and multiple news reports. The vessels, part of the Nuestra América convoy, were delivering aid to Cuba amid its ongoing economic and power crises. They reached Havana on March 28, 2026, following a prolonged journey from Mexico’s Isla Mujeres.

Mexican naval aircraft located the two catamarans approximately 80 nautical miles northwest of Havana after the disappearance triggered a search-and-rescue operation. SEMAR maintained communication with the crews aboard the sailboats, which included nine members from Mexico, the United States, France, and Germany. Upon arrival, the crew was reported to be healthy and in good spirits, with the ships assisted by Havana port pilots.

The Nuestra América convoy represents an international solidarity effort to support Cuba during its current crises, providing essential humanitarian supplies. The two sailboats carried the final shipments of aid in this convoy, which departed Mexico earlier in March amid growing concerns over Cuba’s economic conditions.
