Jasveen Sangha, known as the ‘Ketamine Queen,’ has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for supplying the ketamine that led to the death of actor Matthew Perry in October 2023, according to France 24 and NDTV. Sangha pleaded guilty to multiple felony drug charges related to Perry’s fatal overdose at age 54, which occurred in Los Angeles.
A federal judge in Los Angeles handed down the sentence following Sangha’s admission to operating a stash house and distributing ketamine that contributed directly to Perry’s death, as reported by El Financiero and The Straits Times. She was one of five individuals charged in connection with the overdose, which also involved doctors and Perry’s personal assistant, according to MyJoyOnline.
Sangha holds dual citizenship in the United States and Britain, and her conviction highlights the international dimension of drug trafficking networks, per NDTV and Global News Canada. Investigators linked her to the illegal supply of ketamine within Perry’s social circle, noting that she continued trafficking despite knowing the drug’s lethal risks.
The case has drawn attention to broader concerns over drug distribution networks facilitating celebrity overdoses, as detailed by MyJoyOnline and Irish Examiner. Authorities aim to disrupt such criminal organizations to prevent future fatalities similar to Perry’s, who struggled publicly with addiction.
Moving forward, courts are expected to pursue further prosecutions against the other individuals involved in Perry’s overdose, including medical professionals. The outcome of these cases will be closely watched as part of efforts to curb the opioid and drug crisis affecting high-profile figures and wider communities.
