President Ruto Reaffirms UDA–ODM Cooperation and Launches Key Infrastructure Projects in Kenya

President William Ruto publicly supports the partnership between UDA and ODM, emphasizing ongoing development initiatives across Kisii and Nyamira counties. President William Ruto has reaffirmed the alliance between his United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party and the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) during a tour of Kisii and Nyamira counties, emphasizing collaborative development efforts. He announced key infrastructure projects including a new hospital, stadium, university facilities, roads, markets, and expanded electricity access aimed at fostering inclusive regional growth, according to Capital FM Kenya.

In Nyamira County, Ruto defended the ongoing railway development, dismissing critiques as propaganda. He inaugurated a Sh300 million railway station in Ikonge to improve transportation and stimulate local economic activities, underscoring the government’s commitment to enhancing regional connectivity, as reported by Capital FM Kenya.

Further extending his focus on improving transport infrastructure, the president launched the reconstruction of the dormant Voi–Mwatate–Taveta railway line, a Sh5.5 billion project intended to reopen the Kenya-Tanzania trade corridor. The project plans include building a dry port in Voi, road upgrades, and public facilities to boost trade and job creation in Taita-Taveta County, according to multiple Capital FM Kenya reports.

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki reiterated that despite political rivalries, development initiatives in the Gusii region and other parts of the country remain steady and targeted towards enhancing economic growth. The revival of key transport corridors and public facilities reflects the administration’s strategy to deliver tangible infrastructure benefits nationwide.
