The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has ordered a meeting between former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his lawyer Salman Safdar at 2pm tomorrow to ensure continued legal representation amid his ongoing cases, according to Geo News. The session will be overseen by a two-member bench comprising Chief Justice Dogar and Justice Asif, who are hearing related appeals.
Imran Khan, currently serving a 14-year sentence at Adiala jail on charges linked to a £190 million corruption case involving alleged illegal gains from Bahria Town, continues to face significant legal challenges. The IHC has emphasized the need for early disposal of his appeals, with a hearing scheduled for April 9, as reported by Dawn.
Barrister Salman Safdar met Khan recently at Adiala jail following the court’s directive, updating him on legal developments in the Al Qadir Trust case while also noting Khan’s ongoing eye complications that have limited vision in his right eye. Despite political tensions, Safdar confirmed that Khan's health remains stable but flagged the need for medical attention.
In addition to facilitating the lawyer meeting, the Islamabad High Court has ordered the formation of a medical board to assess Imran Khan’s health and consider his transfer to Shifa International Hospital for treatment. The court continues to review this plea, with a verdict on his hospital transfer pending, according to multiple Dawn reports.
Observers will be watching closely as the court’s decisions on Khan’s medical care and legal appeals could impact the progression of his cases and overall detention conditions. The April 9 hearing and forthcoming medical board evaluation are particularly significant for the management of Khan’s health and legal situation moving forward.
