The Miami Dolphins have hired Jon Robinson, former Tennessee Titans general manager, as their new Senior Personnel Executive, marking his return to the NFL after a more than three-year absence, according to Yahoo Sports. Robinson will join the Dolphins’ front office under first-year general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan as they look to replicate the successful roster-building period Robinson oversaw with the Titans.
Robinson served as the Titans’ GM from 2016 until his firing in 2022, during which time Tennessee made multiple playoff appearances and drafted key players who contributed to the team’s success. Despite a strong early tenure, some late decisions contributed to his dismissal, but his overall impact in constructing competitive teams remains a notable part of his record.
After leaving the Titans, Robinson explored coaching opportunities but ultimately re-entered the front office side of the league with Miami. He was previously linked to executive roles with the New York Jets and Jacksonville Jaguars before finalizing his return to an NFL executive position with the Dolphins.
Miami’s hiring of Robinson signals an emphasis on strengthening their personnel department by adding a proven architect with recent general management experience. This move aims to enhance talent evaluation and roster construction ahead of the upcoming NFL seasons.
Going forward, it will be important to watch how Robinson’s influence shapes Miami’s draft strategy and free agency decisions. His ability to leverage his experience could play a crucial role in determining the Dolphins’ competitiveness under the new GM Jon-Eric Sullivan.
