Chicago White Stockings

The Chicago White Stockings were a professional baseball club based in Chicago during the 19th century, later evolving into what is now the Chicago Cubs. They are best known for winning the first National League championship in 1876 and for the subsequent World Series titles the franchise would claim as the Cubs in 1907 and 1908. Today they remain relevant in discussions of Chicago sports heritage, franchise history, and the lineage of Major League Baseball teams.
